Chhole bhature recipe:

A spicy, acidic chickpea dish and a soft and fluffy fried leavened bread are known as Chole and Bhatura, respectively. Chole Bhature, often called Chana Bhatura, is a beloved Punjabi dish enjoyed by people throughout India, especially in the north. Detailed instructions for creating the chickpea curry and the no-yeast bhatura are included in this recipe post.

Spicy, flavorful, and filling, chana bhatura is a hearty meal. In Punjab and Delhi, I’ve had this dish numerous times. The chickpea curry at each restaurant or Dhaba (highways) has a distinct flavor and taste. The curry’s flavor can range from mild to hot, acidic to semi-dry, and even dry, depending on where it is served.

How to make Chhole bhature step by step?

Cooking a Chhole bhature for your family is something I’m going to show you step by step right here. It is up to you to follow our directions and cook this cuisine for your family in your kitchen.


  • 1 tbsp. of cooking oil
  • The sprig of fresh bay leaves
  • There are five green cardamom pods in this recipe.
  • Four cloves of garlic
  • 12-inch cinnamon stick
  • Cumin seeds, two heaping teaspoons
  • Red onion, about one medium-sized (finely diced)
  • Tsp. ginger-garlic paste, about two tablespoons
  • Three medium-sized tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp. of ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne (or any powdered red chili pepper)
  • Chickpeas: 4 cups
  • a pinch of salt
  • Spice blend for chana two tablespoons
  • One lemon or lime’s worth of juice.
  • Garnish: coriander or cilantro (optional)

For bhatura, use the following:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour Required
  • 1 tbsp. oil from vegetable sources
  • 12 cups of non-dairy yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. white sugar, a pinch of salt
  • Deep-frying with vegetable oil1/4

Making process:

  • Add the bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves to the oil in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Finally, add the cumin and combine well by stirring well. Toss in the onions and salt, cook until golden brown, then remove from heat and serve.
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste and saut√© for a few seconds before adding the chicken stock and water.
  • Add the cayenne pepper and turmeric, then the diced tomatoes, and continue to cook for another minute. Make a smooth mixture and cook the tomatoes until they are soft and pulpy, continuously tossing them during the cooking process.
  • Stir in the 2 cups of water and the chickpeas until everything is well combined. Stir in the chana masala spice blend.
  • A potato masher can mash and thicken up some of the chickpeas. Cook for 15-20 minutes, occasionally stirring until the flavors melded. Add extra water to the chana masala if it appears to be drying out.
  • Lemon juice and coriander leaves can be added if desired.

The bhatura is ready to be made:

  • Large enough to handle the bhatura, heat the oil for frying. Then, pat into a circle 6 to 8 inches across. Roll each piece of dough into a ball and divide the dough into 12 equal parts. Don’t leave any details that are too thick or too thin when you roll out the dough for the pie crust.
  • Place a bhatura in the pan when the oil reaches 360 degrees, taking care to avoid splashing the oil on yourself. The bhatura will cook more uniformly and form a ball if you press it down with a spatula as it puffs up.
  • Line a colander with paper towels and remove the bhatura. Chana masala should be served on the side.

According to dietitians, a typical daily calorie intake is between 1600 and 2500 calories.
